Hello, Lions! How is your first month of the new year going? We hope you're all doing well!

At the moment, Gryffindor is holding a wondeful second place in the house points competition, only behind Ravenclaw. For those of you (which we secretly hope is MOST of you!) looking for the glory that comes with being the top Gryffindor points earner, you've completed all your assignments that are posted, and put  projects up for both Art and Library departments, and you're working on icons for the HOL LIMS contest. Now that you've completed all of that and are waiting for your house points to flow in, what else is there for you to do?

Well, luckily we've got quite a bit going on in the Gryffindor Common Room lately!

First of all, have you visited your den yet? No? You really should! It's a fun place to get to know new people and some of the dens have been sort of quiet. This year's dens are different than the past; we're having an Gryffindor point house competition. The way this works is there are two dens on each team: Team Red versus Team Yellow. Each den on each team works together to take the other team down. So far Team Red is winning, but that can change at any moment, especially with your help! So what are you waiting for? If you have yet to find out what den you're in (And what team you're on...) visit HERE today!

Have you heard about the Library projects? There are two (2) challenges that you can compete for in-house points (AKA rubies) for fun. There is a Poetry Challenge currently taking place for making a personification poem. If you click Poetry Challenge above it will take you to the thread that explains what a personification poem is and basically gives you a very easy step-by-step process into writing it. I just did one myself! :)  Poetry has never before been this easy.
The second challenge is a Prose Challenge. After reading the prompt, get your creative juices flowing and write a lovely story about what happened to you. We're all looking forward to reading it!

Have you been competing in the September den challenge? It's still going on and you can still sign up to compete today! All of the challenges have now been posted. Just make sure you get all of your challenge submissions in.... they're due within the next couple of weeks. Visit this forum for more details.

Last, always remember that Gryffindor has some amazing clubs! You can join just one or you can join all of them, it's really up to you.
  • Have you always wanted to be like Harry and play Quidditch for Gryffindor? Well now you can! All it takes is downloading an IRC client such as mIRC and a little bit of practice and you can be the next Gryffindor Quidditch Team MVP! Find out a lot more here at Quidditch info
  • Do you love your house and want to help make it even more shiny than it already is? Well, maybe it's time to look into the Spice Squad, Gryffindor's own cheerleading squad. Whether you're a guy or a girl, the SS is always looking for new members. They take applications any time of the year as well. Find that application here.
  • Do you like to make shiny graphics? Yeah, we have a place for that too: the Graphics Club. They make signatures for other Gryffindors, share their own work... anything that has to do graphics. You can find that application here.
  • Or is writing your thing? Well look no farther than the Paw Print, Gryffindor's house newspaper. It's not super serious though, most of the things they write are super fun to write as well as read. You can apply here!
  • Are you new and need help finding your way around Gryffindor and HOL? Or are you hoping to help a first year find his or her way around our website? Then the Pawtner Project is for you! It's like Gryffindor's version of Big Sister/Brother. You get a big brother or sister to show you around. If you want to be a Big Sister/Brother the application is here and if you're a new lion looking for a Big Sister/Brother then you can sign up for one here!

With so many options, it should be easy

Hello again, Lions!

As usual, I'm here once again to kindly (*cough*) remind you to earn points for Gryffindor! :D  There are several ways of doing that, so everyone, even new students, can earn plenty of points!  The number one question I've been asked by new students this year is, "How can I earn points?"  I'm absolutely thrilled with the enthusiasm from the new lions, and super proud of the current point earning machines, and I can't wait to see what you all can do this next term!  Let's catch up in the house cup race~

So where are all these shiny points, you ask?  Well, for those of you already enrolled in classes, that's the easiest place to earn your points.  Don't forget your deadlines!! The end of term is in 10 days, and I'm sure most of your class deadlines are coming up very, very soon.  So don't wait, or you'll miss out on a bunch of points!

The newest way for all Gryffindor students to earn points is to contribute to the Gryffindor Yearbook. We need student submissions for all sections, so definitely check it out.  You can follow the link here: Gryff Yearbook and this will take you to the forum area.  There you will be able to post your ideas, questions, and any submissions you want to make!  For example, submitting a bio will earn you 10 points, and submitting a picture or story will earn you another 10.  It's really easy, and you get to let your creativity flow! Don't wait, though, or you won't be able to maximize your point earning.  We can only award so many points per term.  So get creating!

There are also several HOL wide opportunities to earn points.   Currently any student, new or old, can earn points from the following activities:
Finally, be sure to look out for some new HOL contests coming soon!  There will be plenty of chances to earn points through those.  ^__^

If you have further point questions, please ask!  And for the love of cheesecake and butterbeer, GO EARN POINTS!!!!

Sincerely,

Prof. Jenny Lupin
